Davies Precision Grinding was established in 1982 by Adrian Davies, starting by offering a bespoke universal grinding service throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands.

The company grew at a fast pace, moving premises and then relocating again in 1997 to its current location near the city centre. After the closure of local company Triskill chrome plating, Davies Precision Grinding started its own in-house hard chrome plating, growing from one small tank to five.

The takeover of Charlie Styles Grinding increased capacity to 2500mm long shafts with up to 600mm O/D, and the takeover of GP Engineering added metal spraying to the repair services, along with a temperature-controlled inspection room. In 2014 Andrew Sweetman became a director, and bought the company with his wife Andrea Sweetman in 2019.
